Three Ways To Wear a Blouse

work wear classics styling tips womens fashion ideas back to work outfit ideas mom style ideasThe utilitarian blouse is a wardrobe staple of mine. I wear it the same way I wear the classic white blouse, with everything.  In the first image, I’m wearing the blouse causally with jeans, black puffer coat, black ankle boots and choker necklace.

In the second image, I’ve kept my outfit monochromatic and left the blouse unbuttoned. Wearing the same black ankle boots and black turtleneck from previous post. An important styling tip to remember is that when you leave any blouse unbuttoned it acts like a soft blazer. Creating more outfit options for you.

In the third image you can dress the utilitarian blouse up by adding a skirt or simple slip dress, with a statement necklace or earrings.

When you can wear an item from your closet three different ways, your outfit options are endless. I feel like I say that in every post…but isn’t that what we all want from our wardrobe?

The Blazer

No matter your lifestyle. No matter if you work in an office, stay at home, or you wear a uniform or scrubs every day. Every woman needs at least one blazer in their wardrobe, that they can depend on.

Just like my wardrobe basic #1 jeans, the blazer gives you countless options. I’ve mentioned before that I don’t own a lot of clothing but I invest in the wardrobe basics and have some great accessories that allow me to create many different looks.

Wear your blazer with any trouser, dress or skirt, you have now created a suit.

Wear your blazer with any pair of jeans.

Blazer can be dressed up or down, depending on the shoes you are wearing.

Add a fur vest to give an entirely different look.

Wear over your shoulders to add instant glam. (I love wearing a blazer over your shoulders when wearing a dress).

You can add accessories to your blazer and no one will even remember it’s the same one. Accessories such as a fur collar, silk scarf, necklaces, and broaches.

Belt the outside of the blazer.

Roll the sleeves up to make it more causal.

7 Days of Style Tip: Fit is everything. If you purchase a blazer that doesn’t look like it was meant for you, go and visit a tailor.

Wouldn’t you rather have 7 amazing items hanging in your closet than 20 unremarkable items that you don’t feel fabulous wearing? Pick out the items in your closet that you absolutely love and get rid of the rest. Often our closets are full of clothing but be honest with yourself, how much do you actually wear? I have learned over the years how to edit and re-edit my closet. I may not have a closet full of clothing but what I do have is clothing I love and feel great wearing. Isn’t that what we all want? Believe me, you don’t need a closet full of expensive designer clothing to take your wardrobe up to the next level. I have also learned when to splurge and when not to. What we all need to start with are the basics which will become the foundation of your wardrobe. The basics will go with everything in your closet, never go out of style, and your look is always on point. Don’t think that basic has to be boring either. Remember every item in your closet even the classic white t-shirt should make you feel amazing in. Stick with me, I will show you how…

7 Days of Style Basic #1: Jeans

Every woman should have at least one pair of jeans hanging in their closet. Jeans are the most versatile and practical item you will own. Jeans can dress up or dress down an outfit. Two years ago I tried a pair of high waist Rag & Bone jeans and loved them instantly. I’m a huge fan of the high waist jeans, but you have to find the right style and fit for your body.

Below is an example of my fall wardrobe staples.

  1. Rag & Bone high waist jean
  2. Black turtleneck
  3. Tna puffer coat
  4. Stuart Weitzman ankle boots
  5. Silk scarf

Julie Pelipas: Sweater Envy

Not only does she have an amazing sense of personal style but I love her whole philosophy on getting dressed and how she chooses quality over quantity.  I found an interview she did for Net-A-Porter where she talks about shopping smart and not owning a lot.  ” I don’t actually shop that often; I try to follow Vivienne Westwood’s rule that you should buy less, choose well, and make it last. So now I only purchase things I will love and wear forever, and not just forget about them in a couple of months”.

Also, she definitely knows how to wear a fabulous sweater.
